Board of Regents Committee on Education Policy to Consider Academic Program Proposals

ADELPHI, Md. (September 8, 2005) - The Committee on Education Policy of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ (USM) Board of Regents will consider proposals for three academic programs at its next meeting. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:30 am Wednesday, September 14, in the Albin O. Kuhn Library, University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Committee members will review proposals for the following programs:

  • Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, to be formed by joining five existing doctoral programs-Human Genetics, Molecular and Cell Biology, Pathology, Pharmacology, and Physiology;
  • Master of Professional Studies and Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Professional Studies at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC);
  • Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Senior Housing Administration at UMBC.

Also on the agenda as a discussion item is the role of the Board of Regents in the Middle States Commission on Higher Education accreditation process. John H.Erickson, deputy executive director of the commission, will give a presentation on this topic. Six USM institutions are undergoing regional accreditation review by the commission this year.
